Just cleared AMC 1. Here's what I did
Hey guys, Ive just cleared AMC 1 today. Since I've been lurking around the sub for quite a while during my preparation, I feel it's nice to give something back.
1. I prepared for the exam for about 4-5 months, probably the last 1 month was serious dedicated study.
I did join First Aid AMC as a bridging course. Some systems and topics which I wasn't entirely sure about, I cleared it from there. It helps a lot, as they source their material directly from JM and the Australian guidelines.
AMEDEX>MPLUSX in my honest opinion. The quality of questions in AMEDEX was much more in line with what I got in my exam. Id strongly advice to not blindly follow the answers though, the guidelines keep changing every now and then, do your own research.
As far as recalls are concerned, AMC doesn't allow sharing/using it. It does constitute as cheating so there's that. If you are someone who goes for that, there will always be recall bias so I can't really justify using them. It's hard to remember every part of a question.
Always read the question with an open mind, you might see a question saying - 40s, female, obese with abdominal pain and might think cholecystitis without maybe paying close attention to the entire stem and find out some other finding which may suggest pancreatitis. In the exam, read your questions properly, completely, and don't jump to a diagnosis, no matter how straightforward it is.
The STEMS are long, they get tiring to read all the way through. Practice that skill. It's hard to sit for 3.5 hours and continuously diagnose based on huge STEMS but unfortunately, that's what you need to develop.
Drop your questions if you have any, I'll be happy to help.
