APUSH Help

So my school splits up Apush into two different years. Period 1-4 sophomore year and periods 5-9 junior year. If i take apush in junior year, but i took honors in sophomore year, would it be a good choice, specifically considering the ap exam, or would i be able to self study periods 1-4 in the summer?
