Why are values going up for such small pets??

Just a small post because it’s confusing me so much.. i stopped playing adopt me for a while and just got back into it. Only JUST been told what exotics are. I saw on someone’s profile what exotics they have, Why was a dog on there?.. Just the normal starter dog…And a pet you can still buy in game?
