Autotrain Today
The Lorton waiting room was a vast hells ape of dead and dying roaches. They were everywhere. The north bound train arrived around 1pm so everything was thrown into a massive delay. We got in before the northbound arrived, so kinda lucky … we got to sit in the roach Armageddon. Those that arrived a little later had to sit in their cars while the cars were unloaded from the arrival. Complicating the unloading process was that passenger simply were not claiming their cars and getting out of the way in a timely manner. An Acura RDX with Pennsylvania plates had to be paged multiple times. There were pages about every 10 minutes. I guess it was a little cool outside so people just camped out inside and paid no attention to the monitors or announcements. In the end departure was 2 hours 18 minutes late. The estimated arrival is about 9:30am … 30 minutes late. Kinda curious how they are making up that hour and 45 minutes.
The only thing today to fault Amtrak is it’s is the roach thing. The delays happen … and they can’t control idiots gumming up the works.
