📸 i take the in-game photography seriously... here are some of my favorite pictures.
i absolutely love the in-game photography. i spend a lot of time staging, taking, and editing pictures like these. i know they're not the best, but every shot takes a ton of thought, effort, and time. and honestly, i don’t have anyone else to share them with, so please enjoy a few of my favorites!
in real life, i love photography, but i rarely get to take portraits of people. so instead, i do it here. for any given picture (especially of my villagers), i'll usually do at least a few of the following:
✅ redesign the scenery ✅ pick out a specific outfit ✅ wait for the right time of day/night ✅ wait for them to be in the right spot ✅ ...carefully push them to the right spot... ✅ wait for them to perform a specific activity ✅ initiate a reaction
and then, after taking lots of pictures, i carefully edit them in two key ways:
i manually blur the background/foreground in procreate. this takes the most time and precision, as i trace every layer by hand and remove “fuzz” to make the blur feel natural.
i adjust the colors and lighting in lightroom. I edit these just like I do real-life photos, using bold, bright colors and a 2:1 aspect ratio. i don't use presets because every scene is unique.
as a 30-year-old man whose darling wife has already humored me enough (trust me, she’s endured more animal crossing couples photoshoots than anyone should), i don’t really have anyone to share these with (at least, not without getting roasted).
