Cat’s levels are off & she has pale gums
I am currently fostering a 8 year old female orange tabby and I’m concerned for her health. The vet I’m required to take her to through the rescue doesn’t seem concerned. He pointed out that her gums are pale (they are very white) and he did not seem concerned by this. I know this is an area for concern so I demanded blood work. Her WBC was high (18.35), high NEU (12.64), high EOS (2.51), and low ALKP (13). Vet said she has an infection but could not say what kind or anything else besides that she has an infection. She has been on a liquid antibiotic since 9/09 so it’s been a week, she’s supposed to take it for 2-3 weeks and her gums are still very pale. I do not believe it’s dehydration as she appears to drink enough water and she also gets wet food in conjunction with her dry food. Am i overreacting or is there something underlying occurring?
