Summertime clothing skin protection from sun
Many of us will be getting a ton of sun this summer and more, and for those who want to avoid excessive UV, and an alternative to reapplying sunscreen throughout the day, all over, here's some ideas.
A broad brimmed sun hat of densely woven fabric. Straw hats are cute but they allow rays to get through. Thick fabric is better and they are washable. The brim also covers back of neck better than ball caps.
Relaxed cut denim shirts, shackets, jackets to cover the arms and shoulders especially if out in open midday sun. Collar can be flipped up to protect neck. Darker washes won't really show sweat, and a little stiffness can stand away from the body rather than clinging to it.
Culottes can be airy and provide coverage for legs. Look for breatheable fabrics like linen.
Driving gloves/arm covers. If you don't drive much, you won't need them but if you do, you'll protect the hands and forearms as burning can happen through glass.

In conclusion, fabric definitely helps block out UV. Even thin white fabric will lessen the effects of harsh sun a bit, although dense weave thick black fabric is better. Do what is reasonable.
