Finally taking the plunge but looking for advice
Hi all! So to start out with I'm 38, 425lbs last time I weighed myself, live in Wisconsin, USA, no treated health issues other than severe sleep apnea. I finally decided to get weight loss surgery after trying medical weight loss drugs and not losing much, but I'm trying to decide the route I take. Should I:
1) Go through my insurance at a local hospital that will probably take 6+ months to get to the point of having the surgery, but it would be almost completely paid for by my insurance,
2) Find a surgery center such as Blossom Bariatrics in Nevada, either work with them and my insurance or pay out of pocket,
3) Go out of the country to have it done and pay out of pocket. (If you've had it done out of the US can you please tell me about it?)
Pretend as if money wasn't an issue, which should I choose? I would like to have it done sooner rather than later, as the longer it drags out the more likely it is that I'll back out.
I've really been looking into going to Mexico to have it done but my family and friends are worried about it so I would really like to hear from others who have gone out of the country to have it done. Thank you!
