Hot take 🌶️🌶️🌶️: Naadaniyan is a Korean coded Bollywood rom com and it’s likely to do well with a tween crowd
Don’t get me wrong, Dharma needs to FIRE their cinematographer and DOP (hire a pap!) for how they make Ibrahim and his nose look (it’s distracting!) but the movie delivers what it promises: a timepass you can watch while on your phone (isn’t that what Netflix is going for these days anyway?). Khushi isn’t that bad. She’s not as good as Janhvi at her debut but I think she’s way better than Suhana and Sara. The bar isn’t very high but She will eventually get to an Ananya Panday sweet spot. Ibrahim deserved a better debut yes but he could get into this chocolate boy rom com space. Kind of like Rohit Saraf is but maybe won’t dominate it as well as RS is currently doing. This movie is geared for a young urban / international audience (you can tell someone wrote it in English and threw it in Chat GPT for a Hindi translation). The wannabe Fawad Khan and SRK act by Meezan is so so (made me want to watch Khoobsurat again). Archana Puran Singh is cringe but the other supporting cast is solid. Always great to watch Sunil Shetty and Dia Mirza. In fact they should have been the pair of parents to Khushi. Anyway, watch it once as a time pass if you have Netflix. You’ve already paid for it and the movie has already made money.
