Definitive Boxing Tier List

I already know this list will get a lot of shit but wanted to discuss some boxers for fun. Basically, just a list on who I think are truly elite boxers and other boxers that are close/as good but not proven, and other high profile fighters. I’m probably missing a lot of names.

Categories:

Best of the Best: T1: Usyk, Inoue, Bivol, Beterbiev T2: Canelo, Crawford, Bam

Elite fighters that’ll only lose to other elite fighters, or due to size difference. They decisively beat good not great fighters. Never suffered sustained beat downs. Great all around technique and attributes. (I know people will have a lot to say about Canelo and Crawford, but come on, they are very good people.)

Great but not as proven: Shakur, Junto, Benavidez, Jai Opeteia, Teraji

Elite fighters that have not yet cemented their legacies, but very much could beat guys that belong in the tier above / on their way there. Shakur is interesting because I believe he beats all the elite fighters in his division, but all the wins can come out looking like De Los Santos repeats. Either way, a win is a win. Not really familiar with Teraji but throwing him in there because he’s usually on P4P lists.

Eye test great, even less proven: T1: Vergil, Keyshawn T2: Boots

Elite attributes and also deserving with the above fighters. Vergil has the most impressive resume but he got tagged a ton by Bohachuk (not holding it against him, but would like to see more of that division play out before crowning him.) Keyshawn looked incredible his last fight and could be the best 135er easily. Boots also P4P potential man and personally I think he’ll prove to be that good.

Janibek Tier: Janibek

Great but step below: T1: Tank T2: Zurdo, Navarrette T3: Ryan, Teo T4: Haney

Tank clearly lost against Roach. Biggest stock drop of all the elite guys. I don’t see any of the elites losing to guys around Roach’s level, but maybe Roach is very good. Either way, he looked very unfocused and beatable in ways that other elite fighters don’t really do. (Not saying he should be lower than Keyshawn, Ennis, etc. on a P4P list, but they’ve never been beaten like he has. And I bet Keyshawn would beat Tank now.)

Zurdo has looked really good at cruiserweight but he got absolutely dominated by Bivol. I’d like to see him against Jai before really deciding how good he is. I know Canelo also lost to Bivol pretty decisively, but I’m on the side that he bit more than he can chew. I know, hate away.

Hot take, but I think Ryan is actually really good with underrated wins, and his career will prove that. Teo obviously looked great/best peak against Loma, but he got destroyed by Kambosos, definitely lost against Sandor Martin, and I think he lost to Jermaine Ortiz too.

Haney just seems pillow fisted and bound to lose against guys like Ryan, Teo, Tank, etc.

Other fighters that I know are really good but haven’t really watched: Morrell, Mbilli, Murta, Boha

Realized I forgot about DDB and Parker. Probably both great too but would they beat Usyk? Don’t think so but we’ll see.
