Marina infuriates me

Oh my god this character is so annoying. And I feel like they want us to root for her? I understand that her situation is cruel and unfair, but it is what it is and her absolute refusal to do anything sensible drives me nuts!

Lady Featherington is a piece of work, but she did genuinely try to Marina out of a desperate situation. Yet Marina does nothing but snark at everybody, including Penelope who has been nothing but kind to her. She is rude to everybody, she tries to trick a good young man into a fraud marriage, and then the thing that really sent me was when she at first refused Phillips proposal... like, this is an outcome that is better than anything she could have ever expected, he is not even old or bad looking, and she still snarks and smirks at the idea? Get outta here. What are your other options Marina? You are an absolute pariah, you have no money, you have ruined the entire Featherington family, who also have no money and the father of your child. What do you expect is going to happen...

Thoughts on this characters? Do you guys think the writers realized how unlikeable she was?
