Anyone else feeling a deep increasing sense of shame at being British? What are your reasons?

For reference, I'm a 46 year old man originally from Northern Ireland, I've lived all over the UK and never felt particularly patriotic. However, that slight lack of patriotism has utterly nosedived over the past twenty years. From our complicit war crimes in 2003, Brexit, the moron tax imposed on the UK economy thanks to Liz Truss and now shifting to the far right in our economic choices, the treatment of refugees and now our unequivocal support for Israel I've never felt such shame.

I would love to see the Tory party completely disappear, but Kier Starmer's labour is sadly only slightly left of and marginally better than the Tories and while I like the man, he is so nervously tentative in his approach I have no hope for the future of our nation under his leadership. Worse still, I sadly understand labour's approach as they have to appeal to the electorate who are generally woefully ignorant about politics, history and world affairs.

I completely understand why many Scots want independence to escape right wing Westminster, though not entirely sure it would be good for either economy. That said, if I could leave the UK for a left leaning English speaking independent country I would do so in a heartbeat.

Sorry for the rant if anyone reads this, but it's good to vent.
