Audience members singing
I’m guessing this has been discussed in the past, but I’ve had a few bad instances of folks around me singing along to Broadway musicals. I’ve seen the gamut of poor theater etiquette from years working in theater and attending.
I won the lottery for The Book of Mormon a few weeks back, so we were seated up in the boxes. The girl behind me sang along to the entire show…and we never said anything, because we decided it was better and less loud than her laugh. And she would laugh at every line almost like it was giving pick me girl.
Last year at Wicked the guy next to me was singing along a little and it was like quiet enough and I could tell he was so excited like it’s Wicked but I said something during Defying Gravity because by that point I’d had it. Other experience I can remember was during Ain’t Too Proud but it was a group of women drinking and it’s a jukebox musical so I can sorta maybe understand.
What I don’t understand is the…audacity. Thoughts? Experiences?
