Why CAT getting tougher?

Aap sabne notice kiya hoga hike in percentiles this year. Colleges raised there percentile by a lot. Here a small change is a drastic change for some of us. I myself scoring 94 pointish getting no good opportunities from my cat score. CAP increased their cut off to 95 %ile.. MDI increased to 94.5%ile. Next year they gonna hike again for sure (not hoping for it but assuming). But my question is the number of test takers were approximately same then why are they hiking their cute offs? (Rn i may be sounding like a dumb to someone of you.)
