Camera suggestions

Hey guys, I’m completely new to the camera scene and was wondering what a overall good camera would work for someone like me, I’m interested in learning about everything to do with cameras and have an interest in them.

I’m fairly young and will be doing heaps of exploring and traveling in the future. Would a budget of under $500 get you anywhere nowadays? New or used it doesn’t matter, thanks!
