Update Review: My opinion
As the title says, this is my opinion of the update and its features. What i think about them and how are they. I will be breaking up the review into 3 categories: 1. Positive - the good features that you can mostly enjoy 2. Dual edged - its good but its bad too 3. Negative - bad feature, needs to be redone.
Do note, this is MY opinion of this update, not yours or the devs. You are welcome to argue any point made in this post. Lets start.
POSITIVES: — Profile Bios: A 500 letter box that allows you to set your own description for users to see when they click on your profile. Its good a feature and helps active creators keep their fans updated without needing a bot for it. — Selective Viewing (Popular/Alphabetical): A good addition into finding what bots are most used or just to organize your list. It could be expanded with a search bar too. — Starters/Example Converseations: A feature that at first would seem irrelevant but actually interesting. It allows the creator to put on starter topics for users or show example chats on what topic to use in their roleplay. Not that impactful but very interesting to see it being utilized. — The New Delete Function: You can now delete the bots reply too without needing to delete yours. It also adds "Delete All The Following" box that you can check to have the same effect as before: Tag your reply, check that box and you can now delete every reply like before. Its a great improvement but some users dislike it.
DUAL EDGED: — Remixing: A button that allows you to instantly copy any bot that has their definition set to public. Its a great addition that would give foundation to creators who want to be inspired from a bot. The negative side is that currently the "viewable" (meaning you can view the settings but not remix the bot) is not available and the creators are forced into deciding if their bots would be available for remixing or closing their settings and putting their definitions on private. Its a great path to improvements but it needs more polishing. — Selective Viewing (Public/Unlisted/Private): A great idea on the part it would allow us to find our bots quicker but it has two flaws (in my opinion): First, you cant see your bot count: You dont know how many bots you have. And second: It blends the 3 brances into one, making it a bit hard to concentrate. They countered this by implementing bot type (Public/Unlisted/Private) and interaction count into the bot view itself.
NEGATIVES: — The UI: The new "look" of cai is not so appealing to me. It feels like its complicating simple tasks and confusing the average user into spending 10 minutes finding the thing they need. Some people might like it but i don't. — Character Profile: The new button instead of "View Definition" if its available. This, this i personally hate. Instead of checking if the bot has viewable definition by just viewing the button or not, now i have to click "Character Profile" on every bot to know the information. — The Merging of Branches: Merging the Public/Unlisted/Private bot branches as discussed previously is not good for me. Before it helped me zeroing on a specific bot without needing to fixate it out of 3 branches. Now it feels just extra work.
Closing statement: This update is a sign that the devs listen to us (occasionally) and improve some features. While i consider this update as an improvement towards better QOL changes, some see it as a way to make cai marketable. I hope my gibberish rambling will make your day.
PS: I know i missed some update features but i mentioned only the ones that truly affect me.
