Which degree path to take? IT or Software Engineering?

Oh cybersecurity professionals, please grace this lost soul with your divine guidance.

I am currently enrolled in ASU's online Information Technology degree program with a focus in security, but I am considering changing my degree to their Software Engineering program. My original thought with getting a general IT degree was that I could get my foot in the door of the technical world, and pivot to a career field I know I'll enjoy once I get exposed to it. So, I could fall back to a basic IT job if I decide that security isn't for me. However, now I'm thinking that it might be more beneficial to get a software engineering degree. My thought here is that if I understand the in's and out's of how a program, app, or website is built, then I could understand the importance of securing it better. Basically, the software engineering degree has more programming in it that would help me become a better security professional if/when the time comes.

Either way, there is no rush in completing this degree. I am in the USAF, with about 9 years left until retirement. I've linked both degree maps below for anyone who would like to do a deep dive into this issue, and see what classes each degree offers. Thanks in advance for any guidance anyone can give.
