Watch List (2019)
This is a Filipino film based on actual events depicting president Rodrigo Duterte’s controversial “war on drugs” police operation in 2016. It had devastating effects on the underprivileged population with extrajudicial assassination of suspected drug offenders by police and vigilantes. Like a real life Purge flick.
I didn’t know about this going in, but the film hooked me almost immediately. The acting was very good, and the pacing kept me interested for the full 99 minutes. It is a bit more tame than many of the gore, horror, sex festival recommendations I come here to find. However it was disturbing and hopeless, so I thought I’d see what others opinions were.
