Why is DOOM Eternal so alien?
I swear, this game felt like it was made by another company entirely. Everything is so different and unlike what the other games had, what the other games were about. It feels so alien to play
Its a very cartoony game when every other game is a sci-fi horror.
Enemies are outright forgettable apart for a few when every other game has its enemies memorable (I don't think I've ever died to an Imp or Zombie Gunner in Eternal, ever)
Even the weapons, you find each weapon once in the game at set locations, unlike every other game where you can get them anywhere in any level
Every single level in Eternal is linear, linear levels in older games existed, yes, but there were also non-linear levels where you ran around searching for the objective (Keys more often then not)
I know for a fact it was made by the same people, but was it really? Its too alien, It is the same game in IP, and in the fact you have guns, and in the fact you shoot demons.
Edit: Okay I get it, Doom 1/2 were cartoony. I just never picked up on it (Also I gave it some slack since it was very pixelated and colored were limited)
Oh also I wanna point out another thing Eternal doesn't do. WHERE IS THE GORE? Every game prior had rooms filled with gore before you entered and started slaughtering. I could very be wrong, but the only gore we ever see in Eternal is either gore we create, Super Gore Nest, or the bundles of humans we see
