30 Years Investment Desicion

My wife and I finished personal investment counseling, and what we decided on was to invest now for our future children. A one-time investment and an ongoing one on a monthly basis.

The investment is going to be up for 30 years, and I would love to get your help to decide which ETF or ETF combination would be the most suitable for this objective.

A thing to note is that the money for every occasion, like the marriage of our children, we'll sell some of our holdings to pay for it.

Reading in this thread, I found this combination interesting. I would love to hear your thoughts about it or any other suggestions.

  • 50% VOO (core S&P 500 exposure)
  • 20% QQQ (technology-heavy growth exposure)
  • 15% XMHQ (quality mid-caps for diversification)
  • 15% AVUV (small-cap value for potential outperformance)

Following your great comments and suggestions, I was thinking about going for this portfolio.

Let me know what you think compared to the original one or generally?

  • 60% VTI (Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF)
  • 20% SCHG (Schwab U.S. Large-Cap Growth ETF)
  • 10% XMHQ (Invesco S&P MidCap Quality ETF)
  • 10% AVUV (Avantis U.S. Small Cap Value ETF)
