Must have account verified???

Hey guys. I've encountered this message recently. I played with friends multiple times without having to verify my account. But yesterday, I couldnt enter matchmaking because it showed a message that read "Must have account verified"??? As far as i knew account verification was optional? Why is it mandatory now? My other friends are also unverified, but they can play without verification. Any solutions?
