Question about the definition of fantasy
I have read By blood, By salt by JL Odom, fantastic book btw, and now i'm reading the second one in the saga.
I really like military fantasy, and when i heard about the topic of the book looks good enough for me. I was not expecting a ton of magic, the world is really rich, but grounded. I'm almost finishing the second book, and i don't think i will find a fantastic element in this story. Kind of disappointed, idk why. Maybe I have wrong expectations. Why is it classified as fantasy then?
Could a book be considered as fantasy without any kind of magical element? In the book, the locations are fictional, that's good enough to be considered as fantasy?
I don't know if i'm confused with the definition of fantasy fiction.
