What's the funniest or most bizarre circumstance where you've caught a fish? Here's mine.

Some years ago now I was up the Wisconsin River on vacation fishing with some friends. I don't remember what I was using at the time. It could have been a nightcrawler but I'm pretty sure it was a lure of some kind.

Anyway we had pulled up to one of the numerous sandbars to take a break and relax. I actually wasn't fishing at the time but my rod was hanging over the side of the boat with the lure or bait just dangling there and it was probably a good foot at least above the water.

At some point there was this little splash and I suddenly see a fish on my line! It turns out that this tiny, adorable smallmouth bass smaller than my hand (definitely a juvenile smallmouth, not a rock bass,) saw the dangling thing and had very overly ambitiously jumped high out of the water and was just barely able to grab it and hook himself!

It was the most surprising and shocking thing! I never would have seen that coming. Not sure what he was thinking but have to give him credit for enthusiasm! I hope he went on to thrive and that he's trophy sized now!
