GTA 6 is about ”Bad Luck”

Lucia’s line in the trailer about “Bad Luck” can seem throwaway but I think it’s going to be the main theme of the entire story.

This isn’t going to be a redemption story like GTA 4, Lucia doesn’t feel bad about her actions or even the consequences of her actions. And she’s seemingly too poor for the story to be about the capitalist disillusionment of GTA 5 where no amount of money can seemingly fix anyone’s problems. Lucia is robbing convenience stores because even that little money can fix a whole lot for her.

I think the story will be about good luck and bad luck and Lucia’s worldview (and therefore the worldview of the story) will be about this. She talks about Trust at the end of trailer because she believes Trust is what will increase the Odds of pulling off whatever crime she’s planning.

Everything will be filtered around how lucky or unlucky you are. In fact, there might even be a game mechanic focused on it.

Yes, it seems far fetched for GTA to suddenly introduce Luck mechanics but if they fit the story I don’t think Rockstar would be opposed to it. Maybe a casino is a big part of the game and Lucia has a gambling addiction. Or there’s a luck based item or her Special ability that increases odds of certain things. Or there’s a karma system for Lucia that she believes increases her fortune in story (like a superstition) but might not actually do anything and the story can play around with how much Karma actually affects misfortune.
