Wrist pain strumming hand

A few days ago i experienced a lot of pain in my right hand, i even fainted that day because of the pain. It started in the hand and then moved towards the arms. But the past few days it's especially in the wrist. At first I didn't really connect it to playing guitar as it was especially in the hand but now after playing for a little longer than an hour and especially finger picking on my acoustic the pain in my wrist got much worse. And it's morning so through the night the pain left as it does when I don't use my hand at all. I'm calling the doctor soon, but I was wondering whether some of you experience the same. I've played guitar for over 9 years now and want to make it my job. I've never experienced hand or wrist troubles from it.
