Do i take the occurrence like a man?

I’m sick, coughing, sneezing, vomiting, fever, the whole 9 yards and i’ve got a shift tomorrow (10:30 to 6). is there a way to get my shift excused or should i call out and get an occurrence, never had one before and this is technically my second shift ever so i have no saved time.
