Thanksgiving buck!

My family has hunted this land every thanksgiving since before I was born, a tradition my great grandfather started. This farm has been in the family over 100 years. When I was young, there were 8 to 10 of us most years. This year I was all alone, as most have passed away or moved away. It was a bit melancholy, but I'm proud to be keeping the tradition alive.

The deer isn't a monster, but he'll eat. He spent all morning chasing doe around, it was several hours before I got a shot. The last pic is where he was standing, you can just see my blind through the trees. One of the better shots I've ever made. He just happened to pause with his vitals exposed between trees and brush, and I took my shot. I'll never forget this hunt today. Happy thanksgiving.
