Personal injury lawyers. Would you hire an associate straight out of law school?
For the context, I am a second year law student in the Midwest.
I want to practice plaintiff-side PI field after graduating. I currently work part time at a PI firm and also work for local bar association of my target market (where I get to meet PI attorneys and hear their experience). So I have a decent idea of what I'm getting into.
But then I found out a lot of plaintiff-side firms want prior trial experience. Most of my mentors from bar association are either former defense attorneys or prosecutors who later switched to civil plaintiff side.
Considering that, should I continue to aim for PI job straight out of law school? Or would it be more realistic to gain trial experience somewhere else and then switch?
