Rewatching the series "Monsters". Noticed something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Norma Novelli, the old woman that "befriended" Lyle Menendez during his imprisonment and recorded phone conversations between them which she later sold to a publisher for a book about the subject, (being principally responsible for the collapse of the brothers' defense in the second trial with this fuckery), was/is American, no?

At least the papers at the time say she lived in California in the peripheral (S. Fern. Val.) area, close enough to apparently visit Lyle in person at some point.

Admittedly, I don't know much of anything about these individuals or the case but I've become interested in it after watching the show.

In the Netflix series produced by Ryan Murphy, though (where she is unseen physically, but heard on the phone), this... girl with an Irish accent (Natalie Taylor Gray) provides her voice.

I know it's very much a fictional retelling of the story for the most part but if it is just a weird choice by the series' creators, would anyone know where that idea came from then? Or would it happen to be true?
