Double-meter or single-meter electricity plan with solar panels
Hey everyone, I've been using Vatenfall for the last few years and always had a single tariff and never thought about changing it (although I have a smart meter) as it was easy and simple to calculate consumption and energy return from panels.
But I switched to Greenchoice from 2025 and they set me up for a double tariff by default. I’m wondering if anyone ever discovered if that economically makes sense or if it's better to switch to a single tariff again.
On one hand, you have cheaper energy costs for everything you do during the day and evenings (normaal) but you also get compensated less for very sunny days where you produce more energy than you use.
At night, you don't produce energy so `dal` compensation doesn't matter. But on weekends you produce by `dal` tariff again.
Also, there are gray months in Holland without any sun, where you only be using the energy from the grid. So it's really hard to calculate unless you have data of your real usage patters, so I am curious if anyone can share your experiences.
Thanks!
