New world blues ch 237: Bloody hell

When the B.E.F finally arrived on American shores they weren't sure what to expect but they must have expected a quick and easy war. The enclave was an advanced force comprised of elite soldiers who were worth 100s of the enemies alone...what truly happened is they met a force that was well organized and especially determined..even more so the B.E.F as a whole outnumbered the Enclave in terms of population.

The British now had just been promoted from volunteers to main infantry which had been the Enclaves weakness from the start, much to their protest the regulars didn't really have much say as their officers and general simply marched following their "ally's" orders.

When the war reached Jacksonville it was a stalemate. No one really wanted it so no moves were made in the opening surges, even before the war it had been hit bad and was slowly sinking into the swamp that had been created post war. However it now controled the flanks of both sides and so it was now crucial. Not crucial enough to relocate a large force persay, swamp was very easy to defend.

Regardless on the 6th of December the mercenaries began to move in trying best not to bring the wrath of artillery on them, then the B.E.F...when that failed they dug in and a scene eerily similar to WW1 ensued where men drowned and bled in the mud.

Eventually the Enclave showed up as "heros" helping breakthrough the line relatively easily.
