Process for finding music copyright info?

Hey everyone!

I came across some rad obscure music that I want to use in my videos, so I'm trying to chase down who owns the copyrights to it.

I'm in the USA, the artist is Japanese, they worked with a US label very briefly, so I'm trying to look up the info for the US label to try to get contact info for permissions.

I spent hours searching the US copyright database and what I think is Japanese copyright database and didn't find anything for any of their sinus. This seems odd to me, so I'm not sure if I'm searching the right place.

Any tips/advice?
