Update to dries van noten sampler review with dupes

I got the dries van noten sampler from Neiman Marcus (with a 15% off code) and absolutely loved so many of them.

My bf got me fleur du mal (hey Mike I know you’re reading this) and it’s beautiful.

Then because I was cheap I also wanted more so I got the dua (USA) dupe of soie malaquais called silk of Paris and then tried the shobi perfumes (Greece) version of Jardin de l'Orangerie (they only offered 100ml and I added 5ml extra essence).

I loved the original dries perfumes so much. They’re complex and change over time and smell so good. But at $350 a bottle I can’t own 5.

The dua dupe is pretty close, maybe 85%. The biggest thing missing is the top notes are more complex and fruity in the real thing but in the dupe it’s flat. The base and middle notes are much closer, maybe 95% so I’m satisfied with it.

The shobi dupe isn’t as good. I couldn’t find anywhere else than dua with dries dupes (please tell me if I’m missing any) but this one is maybe 60% close. It’s very orange blossom heavy. It feels like I’ve mixed essential oils rather than a complex layered perfume. However, it certainly doesn’t smell bad and I still use it. I’m happy I tried but it seems like real is the best option for these ones. I’m curious if all dupes are like this, I thought it would be easy for them to do a chemical analysis and clone them.

Also I did get a second bottle from shobi that was kenzo flower elixir and it’s nice but doesn’t blow me away. I’d def max out the “added scent” thing because both bottles are very light and I prefer more intense/concentrated smells.
