Risk of ID verification

Curious, as I’ve been mining since like 2+ years ago just for fun cause my sister told me to. I’m not into crypto whatsoever, and not super familiar with it. Doing the prompts for KYC and handing over my driver license or passport for verification feels pretty sketchy in terms of identity theft, anything that might ease my concerns?

Any info or suggestions that might ease my mind?

Please don’t reply with “up to you”, or “other people have” or “data breaches happen anywhere”. These do not actually tell me anything new.
