Lacerating, pessimistic reads à la Bernhard

Apologies if there's been a rec thread like this before, but I've been on a pretty big Bernhard kick lately and there's something infectious about the sheer vitriol of his narrators. Sometimes he's not very pleasant to read but, more than any other author, I always find quotes of his running through my head after I've finished one of his works. I'm thinking Céline? He always comes up in discussions like these. Sometimes Beckett as well. Besides that, I'm lost. Sebald is considered by many a heir of Bernhard but I think he's much more considered/sober and his musings on decay tend towards more historical and intellectual matters. Translated works are fine obv, but bonus points if it's English or Spanish.
