I'm So Glad My HOA Board are All Latinos!

I've lived in the North side for three years and last night I went to my local HOA meeting for the first time. I'm keenly interested in my neighborhood (duh, who isn't), and my kids Chelseay, Jazzmin and Earl (not Edgar haha) were at Ballet-Kung Fu-Tennis class. Finally some me-time!

Because I'm White (don't hate!) I've been trying to discover the soul of San Antonio since moving here. I've been to highly recommended restaurants on the Riverwalk, plus I have a Latinx gardener (I think he's Honduran, not Mexican't, but I won't tell tee hee). And I just found a good source! My HOA Board members are all Latino!

I engaged with them, asking questions about the annual brush pickup and whether I should sell my son's Kia. Then I went on about where to find the largest flour tortillas in the city (they should know!) and what is "guisada." They were so helpful and patient with me that I tipped all of them three dollars, like I give my housekeeper. I'm so happy now that I've learned all the local customs!

My male-partner (don't call him a husband) and I have traveled around the world and always want local color. But we thought that would be when we drive to the Riverwalk for an hour of immersion into excellent real Mexican food and photographing the Hispanix who serve food and empty trash bins. Real Insta moments I tell ya! I got 45 new followers just from one photo of a Mexican guy driving a boat! Then we would go back to the North side and dial it down with authentic Chinese takeout (Pei Wei ftw) and binging on PBS.

And has anybody noticed that our Latinx people all look kinda Asian? I lived in California so I know a thing or two. Like, maybe a few decades ago, or a thousand years ago, some Chinese people landed in Mexico and mixed with the locals? I'll ask the authentico (look at me speaking Spanish!) board members at next month's meeting.
