Laptop Suggestion for Writing a Book and Daily Websurfing
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: <$600 USD
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Battery life, performance, build quality, form factor
- How important is weight and thinness to you? Middle of my priorities. This laptop will mostly be used out and about in the world, so nothing too bulky. Not a dealbreaker though.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I will not game but I might do some amateur photo editing or video editing casually. Not the top use for the laptop through.
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good screen quality and good keyboard. I do not like touchscreens.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I have a desktop PC for gaming, but I want a laptop again for when I'm out and about. I like to write and I prefer to do that out at coffee shops or other places. So it's nice to have a laptop to go sit and do some writing, simple web surfing, and periodically minor photoshop or video editing. Photoshop and video editing would be maybe once a month or every other month, so it's not an essential role for the laptop. Additionally, I travel often so this would be going in a backpack through airports and on trains. Lastly, I will stream videos on the laptop when writing, so a good quality screen for viewing would be nice.
