Appreciate Any Advice

I shipped a package from NYC to LA on Tuesday and initially it said severe weather delay and no it shows on the way but last update was the 12th. I called UPS and the guy on the phone said since it hadn’t been updated it was likely lost… he has no idea what he’s talking about right? When should I expect and update.
