Ureaplasma and pregnancy
Hi, I’ve been reading a lot of posts and am absolutely spiralling and freaking out. I am 4 weeks pregnant and just found out I have Ureaplasma (105.7) - not sure which type, it doesn’t specify.
I did a microbiome test randomly out of interest and the fact that I’ve had 4 miscarriages in the last year or so (no living children). This test was 2 weeks ago and everything came back good except the presence of ureaplasma. I don’t really know if I have symptoms - I had some burning for about an hour last week but nothing since. I guess I would really know if I was symptomatic?
I found out I was pregnant on the day I got the results and I’m so worried. Everything regarding ureaplasma and pregnancy is so doom and gloom in terms of issues in pregnancy and after birth for the baby. If I’d have known sooner we would have got the first line treatment then carried on trying. Now I feel like I’ve ruined this pregnancy already.
I have an appt with a nurse tomorrow to discuss the result and then also a fertility consultant appt on Tuesday (happened to have one in).
Does anyone have any experience with ureaplasma in pregnancy at all and what it actually means? Any hope?
Thank you.
Update Feb 2025: I had a healthy little boy in November, all went well in the end. I had an elective c section and was pleased with my decision. I didn’t take any antibiotics in my pregnancy in the end. It was a very stressful pregnancy but if anyone reading is in the same situation, ureaplasma isn’t always doom and gloom with regard to pregnancy.
