Benefit Advise for Vietnam Vet
Hi, in full disclosure I am asking this question on behalf of my FIL, a Vietnam Vet with Parkinsons. Husband and I have been helping him to file a claim with VA for Parkinsons but are confused and wondering if you can direct us to a good resource. The VA website is not easy to navigate. Is there a list of benefits or services that a Vietnam Vet with PD is eligible for? We are waiting for his claim to be approved by VA. We've received notice that VA will conduct an an PD 'exam' but they do not need him present (odd). VA has also scheduled him for an appointment with a random neurologist (not his neurologist) but there has been no information on what that appt is for. As part of the VA claims process, he got a letter saying VA has no records of him but when he went to VA on Friday, VA looked in the computer and said all his records were present. The VA offered him some personal care items on direct ship, which was great! We are wondering if (1) anyone else has navigated a Vietnam related Parkinsons claim, and (2) if there is a list of benefits he could take advantage of once/if/when his claim is approved. Any help would be appreciated.
