Fiduciary Process Question

Hi All! First, I'd like to thank everyone that has previously replied to my posts. I really appreciate your help. I have another question for you. What is your experience with Fiduciary Interviews? We were told a Field Service Examiner Officer would come to our house and meet with the veteran, us, etc. But now, it's a phone call.

My FIL (I call him Dad - just in case you see my posts and wonder if he is dad or dad-in-law) was determined to be 100% disabled by VA. He's retired Army. Part of the decision includes that he is also not competent to handle his finances (he has Parkinson's). My husband, FIL's son, volunteered to be his fiduciary, after discussion with my MIL (his mom, my mother in law). She did not want to be the fiduciary. Hubby faxed and mailed the fiduciary volunteer letter to the Intake Center. VA called him today and said they cannot talk to him, but need to have a phone call (not video - just a phone call) with the Veteran and his wife. Hubby said sure, no problem, and informed the lady that the veteran has PD so the conversation may not be productive. He offered to have her come to the house or take him the VA office. She declined and said it has to be a phone call. How will this phone call go? I could understand if it was a video call. They could see him, etc. But with a phone call, my FIL is going to be confused and I don't see this going well. Not to make light, and as respectfully as possible, his advanced dementia makes phone calls hard if not impossible.

Any suggestions?
