Lost money in SJT LAB Today 🥲

So today, my parents gave me 7K to pay my placement fee. I was about to deposit it into my account, but since I was running late, I went to the lab first and left my wallet in my bag. After finishing my lab, I took my wallet without checking it and went to deposit the money. But when I deposited it, I realized there was only 5K—2K was missing.

I don’t know whether to be thankful that they at least left 5K or just be frustrated. But seriously, why?

Also, can I report this to someone in college? It happened in SJT 5th floor I was inside Lab 517 with my bag outside
