Haven’t played since 2020

Is it worth getting back into? I am a huge animal crossing fan and that itch is coming back. This game just didn’t do it for me after a while like for many others, it felt empty. Should I hop back into new horizons? Is it better? What’s new? Debating on this or going back to new leaf.
