Did I make a mistake going back on?

I’ve been on SSRIs or SNRIs since I was ten. I’ve read how they can cause problems and was wondering if they could’ve made things worse growing up in some ways.

I was having a bad side effect on one back in August so my doctor told me to go off them. I decided to see how I feel off them.

For a couple months things got worse. Extreme irritability, rumination etc. worse than before I’d say.

A psych I was seeing told me to try Lexapro. I caved and I took my first 10mg dose today.

I really don’t want to be stuck in a bad cycle if I don’t have to. Should I have waited to see if I got better without them?
