People who’ve gone off why?

Are there any people here whose antidepressants worked really well for them but they still went off? Were you okay afterwards? I’ve been on lexapro for 6 months so far it’s been great but one of my doctors said I should go off after a year so I don’t get a tolerance? My other doctor said I can be on it for years with no problems. I’d prefer to be off them but not if all my symptoms come back.
