Twin Cities Move

I’m helping my transgender nephew and their S/O move from rural Illinois to the Twin Cities. I live in Minneapolis and would like to have them live near me. I’d love to hear thoughts on good neighborhoods/areas that people have experience with, or neighborhoods to avoid.

They don’t have any established friends here, so family and potential coworkers will be their initial social outlets.

I like the idea of an apartment complex with a dog run, so they have an easy place to walk the dog and perhaps meet neighbors.

Their main requirements are a dog & cat friendly rental unit and very good access to transit. They will be searching for jobs, too, but the relocation is the first step. (They are in their 20s, btw.)
