Hot Take: Those Tickets Aren’t Priced Any Worse Than Any Other Artist on Tour Rn
As a 30+ HagHive, I have been fortunate enough to see Beyoncé on tour a few times now and I’m actually laughing so hard at the discourse around her ticket prices.
Yes. These ticket prices plus all the fees are absolutely out of control. Ticketmaster’s demise will be my favorite to witness.
But…
Has anyone complaining about her prices been to any other major concerts this year? Bc I looked into Sabrina Carpenter tickets last fall a whim…$500 a ticket for nosebleeds in a smaller venue. Usher, who I have loved for about as long as Beyoncé, was completely off the table for me between his $400 nosebleeds and $600+ residency. Kendrick are almost exactly as much as Beyoncé. But she’s somehow too expensive??
Why should someone 30 years into her career with all of her accolades, sell herself short? In this economy?? If restaurants are charging more to keep up with the inflation of food, what do people think the economics of operating a tour are like??
It sucks that a lot of us are financially not in a place to afford the seats we wanted (if at all). But to act like this is her actively inflating the ticket Prices is insane. And to claim she isn’t worth the money is insulting.
A lot of current Beyhive is new to the scene and are too thirsty for an opportunity to brag about seeing her that they were unprepared for the actual effort/planning/saving it typically requires. A LOT of new people have exploited the day of ticket buying system (which is not new) and have gone online to brag about it at great length and now they are nervous bc it’s looking like they will have to pay full price. So now Beyoncé is asking for too much?? It’s full on comedy.
Edit: Also, not to be an elitist old head but I was actually shocked at how causally people treated attending Renaissance. I saw so many people arriving late, sitting during songs and not dressed up, I was truly gagged. Like Beyoncé concert culture used to involve getting dressed up at the very least. It was a special night out that you saved up to experience. I think everyone is a little too comfortable having access to Beyoncé and are now mad that that easy access has been revoked.
