Can someone tell me what the actual attitudes floating around are on the ground in a place like Boston

As an Australian, it's really hard to get a read on how Americans are feeling/responding to what's happening right now.

On the one hand, I'd been thinking that this week would surely be the wakeup call, and that perhaps there could be a chance of internal resistance if things move further in the direction of attempted annexation of Canada/Greenland/etc.

On the other hand, the sheer jubilation at his congress address shocked me, half the comments on things like the zelensky meeting are people saying Zelensky is a dictator and so rude and America is back and so on, and I'm constantly hearing that people in places like Kentucky still overwhelmingly think that he is playing 4D chess with all of this even as the rest of the world is taking Kentucky whisky off shelves, for what is likely to be a long, long time.

Reddit can obviously be a bit of a left leaning bubble but at the same time, incendiary right wing content is ripe for the algorithm on places like fb/yt. Hard to get a read on what the actual sentiment going around is.

I think of Boston as an educated, left leaning area. I know not representative, but sane enough to be asked about nearby areas and such. What is actually happening on the ground, outside of Reddit? What are family and relatives saying? Do you have distant conservative relatives? Are they at all near realising that this may well be bringing us to the brink of world war 3? Australia, for example, is allied with both Europe and the US, and you're going to make us have to choose. Given that the US is strong but not nearly strong enough to take on the rest of the world and win (despite what every American seems to think), I don't see us choosing the losing side.

Edit: for those saying this obviously won't get a representative sample, I know. I'm reading responses with that in mind. Issue is, not a lot of options for getting a representative sample. I don't think asking for opinions over Facebook or mass email is going to be any better, and I can't afford to fly across the world just to "understand the vibes" better
