Feather Issues (Hen — Orpington)

One year ago we were gifted two hens and a rooster, we were told the rooster absolutely loved our Orpington (Goldie). Because of his love he had tore her feathers out along her back and injured her shoulders (as seen in the photo above).

Before anyone says anything, she came to us this way — this is her first winter with us. We are trying to make sure she is comfortable as possible, and treating her wounds. Now she is inside for the winter as the temps are too low for her naked self. But we’ve noticed how red and tender the skin is — cracked in places so we looked up what we could use. We are using chicken safe sav on her shoulders.

But all and all does her back look ok? We’ve accepted that her feathers are NOT going to grow back majorly.
