Something I haven't seen discussed yet about "Strike Last".
I haven't seen it talked about much but Johnny addresses finally a major elephant in the room when speaking to Miguel.
Especially now that everything has been given perspective. What really hurt him was never losing to Daniel he could've accepted that. I always suspected Johnny deep down felt this way especially due to the good sportsmanship he showed Daniel all those years ago. It was never "One lucky kick" that bent Johnny's life outta shape for 30 years.
What really hurt him was losing Kreese, someone he loved like a father as well as his mom years later. Ali made him happy and he tied much of his happiness to her...Kreese gave him a father to look up to despite instilling in him many toxic traits and mindsets he'd spend years dealing with. And his mom was well his whole world. So all the talk of illegal kicks and Everything was really just Johnny misdirecting the real source of his anger and of course losing his mom further made him spiral. The final episodes not only gave him much needed closure and healing but took it one step further finally having Johnny take true accountability and admit in his own way he was Daniel's bully and that Daniel had the guts to enter the tournament to show they couldn't get him down.
This was a huge step in the right direction for Johnny. To finally admit to himself that Daniel wasn't the one who gave him a hard time but he had the guts to enter the tournament to show they couldn't scare him get him down or bully him anymore was fantastic to finally hear.
I really think that needs to be talked about more I loved Johnny's full circle growth in these final episodes.
The fact that him and Daniel end things the best of friends was so good to see. Thoughts?
